This year I attended the Westminster Dog Show for the very first time to watch a few of my favourite pooches in action. Attending as a participant in the show was our very own Daddy to our First litter “AM GRCHB Birchbark’s Sam Adams”, owned by Amy Davis. It was so exciting going to the show, but to know some of the dogs made it that much more special. Mr. Sam Adams was beautifully groomed, ready for the ring and won Select at Westminster, he was handled by Samantha Brainard and judged by Judge Edward Fojtik. I was there to cheer him on and got lots of sloppy kisses afterwards. He is a very handsome boy and had some tough competition in the ring, but he did very well.
There is so many beautiful breeds to see, and a great place to meet up with friends and colleges whom you haven’t seen in a while. We watched the Agility, Confirmation for many breeds, and of course stayed for the Best of Show in the formal last evening. It was truly a trip to remember & was very much enjoyed in New York City. If you ever have the chance, it is worth the fun & always lots to learn.
Sam wasn’t the only beautiful boy there for us to see. A very good friend to us also had her handsome boy competing, “AM & CAN GCHB SALISH ROR to Riverside”, Doc. He did very well too and was handled by Bonnie Fisher. Although he had some very tough competition in the ring, he was very popular out of the ring hanging out with his Mom. Doc is a Minature American Shephard and Annette Duguay is his owner, and my breeding buddy. Annette was there to help deliver all our babies in our first litter.

Our Carriage ride through Central Park on our one day free from the Dog Show.
All set up for agility – was an all day event & so much fun to watch….
For those who know our family, know that years ago we had two Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers. How we loved them and I miss their Antics every day. This photo from the Westminster reminded me of our oldest Toller how she was always doing something to entertain us or make us smile. One day we will introduce another Toller into our lives as a family member, but for now, we are content with raising beautiful Newfoundlands.
These are just a few, so many other beautiful breeds to see.
