We are a small home-based kennel located in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. We have had Newfoundlands living with us as pets for over 20 years all whom have lived a very long happy life with our family. We brought Khloe over from Poland when our oldest Newfoundland Levi was 10, He adored her and was very good with her and taught her a lot of things. It was the first time we had ever received a dog from outside of Canada. Then we brought Olivia over as well who is so sweet and lovable. We loved them both so much, we decided we wanted to learn as much as we could and start a breeding program. Our girls go everywhere with us, spend a lot of time inside & out of our home with us and quite often we have our grandsons come and stay for a weekend whom both of our girls adore. Both girls are Certified Therapy Dogs as well as we are training them in drafting, so we are busy. We adore our Newfoundlands and feel blessed that we have them.
We are members of the Moncton Kennel Club, the Newfoundland Dog Club of Canada, and the Canadian Kennel Club.
When Italian explorer Giovanni Caboto (or John Cabot as he is known in Newfoundland) first set eyes on North America in 1497, his first words were “O buono vista!” When translated into English, this phrase means “Oh happy sight!”, which is fitting for what would become the town of Bonavista, the historic site of Cabot’s landing. It is also fitting for our Newfoundland dogs, “Oh Happy Sight!” all these beautiful and handsome Newfoundland dogs, and thus our kennel name “Bonavista Newfs”.
